Broad Str. Put "sustainability" on Display

"A New Face for an Old Broad" gave us a preview of simple changes that can make our city more sustainable. It was part "pop-up" community and part street festival - a peek at what a sustainable Memphis neighborhood might look like. Here are some photos:
Bike lanes, light posts, and trees were added, crosswalks painted in, and storefronts given a quick facelift.

Stores and restaurants were open, empty buildings made home to temporary ones, and everything spilled out onto the sidewalks.

There was a temporary skatepark, bands, face-painting,

a chance to learn and talk about plans for Memphis,

lots of bikes, including the new aerobic hybrid, and a car, too.

A big thank you to the sponsors: Historic Broad Business Association, Livable Memphis, Memphis Regional Design Center, Aerobic Cruiser, Loeb Properties and the Martin Family Foundation.
