It's Architecture Month

It's September, and to kick-off Architecture Month, AIA and Memphis Heritage sponsored a chalk art contest at the downtown Farmer’s Market last Saturday. A FfOR team headed by Renee Lartigue joined the fun.
Here are the team artists, Don Richardson, Renee, and Sue Williams, at work on their creation, “Let’s Promenade.”

The event brought back good memories of past FfOR teams in the AIA & MH sponsored Treasure Hunts. Here are sleuths, Jack Tucker, Renee Lartigue, Judith Johnson, and Virginia McLean heading out on the hunt in 2004.

Architecture Month, held each September, is filled with lectures, films, house tours, and other events. This Thursday night, Sept. 14, Kennedy Lawson Smith, will present the first lecture at Dixon at 7 p.m. Admission is $10. Smith is one of the nation’s foremost experts on commercial district revitalization and development, independent main street businesses, and economically and environmentally sound community development. The schedule for Architecture month is posted in Upcoming Events, or go to http://www.aiamemphis.org/archmonthsite for a complete schedule and detailed information.
