Litter in the Harbor – You can do something about it

Click here to see what's happening in the harbor.

You won't watch that film without wanting to do something about it, and here's an opportunity:
On Sat., Apr. 19, from 12:30 to 3 p.m., Celebrate Earth Day by helping clean up the public boat ramp area on Wolf River Harbor.
Meet under the Auction Street Bridge (turn-off is at NW corner of Front Street and Auction).
This is a Chickasaw Group Sierra Club Water Sentinels project, and they'll bring the trash bags and gloves. You may get muddy, so wear appropriate shoes and clothes.
For more information and to confirm the meeting place, please contact James Baker at (901) 826-2448 or kimo_aubrey@yahoo.com

Pyramid Reuse - Another Option

Q: The question for quite a while has been what to do with the Pyramid.

A: So far a Bass Pro store and Ericson’s amusement/theme park have been the main proposals under consideration.
But now there’s a 3rd and maybe better option on the table.
Tom Jones at Smart City Consulting suggests converting the Pyramid into exhibition space for the Convention Center, adding a monorail to connect the two buildings as a Convention Center Complex, and putting in that long-discussed inclinator to the Pyramid’s peak. As the blog says, we’d be solving two problems at once.
